Stirling Library

Stirling Library

summary

Construction of a modern new library for the residents of Stirling, including state-of-the-art technology. The building comprises a large open library area, a separate children’s library, office space for the staff, computer rooms and toilets. A new public road and terraced car parking complement the park-style environment.

All work was carried out whilst maintaining access to the existing library and council offices with minimal disruption to the public.

challenges

Complexities in this project included an unusual façade with large curved alucobond soffit cladding. The new car park, road and access points were constructed during the building process. Extensive traffic management enabled us to overcome this challenge with minimal impact on the community
The building was interfaced with the existing office building, requiring precise building set-outs.
A polished concrete floor required a special concrete mix design, specialised placement and protection. Extensive consultation with the client and consultants enabled us to meet client expectations.

Unusual coffer ceilings were used extensively in the building on a rake with radius and curves.
