Animal Pound Facility

$1,100,000

This project consisted of the demolition of two existing buildings, including asbestos removal to make way for a new 305m2 animal pound with offices and amenities on a shared industrial site. The project was a collaboration of the Salisbury & Tea Tree Gully Councils, with Salisbury leading the project. The main structure was constructed as a design and construct shed, with corrugated steel and Barestone cladding, and a raft slab.  The slabs were designed with integrated falls to stainless strip drains, with the kennels elevated and suspended drainage connected in collaboration with the Council engaged kennel subcontractor. The facility shared services and security fencing with the neighboring industrial buildings, Mykra were engaged to separate those services and managed the SAPN augmentation, as well as modify the security fencing with new automatic gates.  During the project we were required to redesign aspects of the carpark works with additional stormwater, landscaping and concrete ramps added.  The client also scoped for Mykra to undertake a significant amount of additional date and security works to the building and the overall shared site.  The opening of the site was celebrated with Mayor Gillian Aldridge OAM and a large team from both supporting councils.
