Cottage Homes Mitcham Civil Upgrade

The Cottage Homes Mitcham project involved a significant civil and services upgrade to an operational retirement village consisting of 25 residential units and a central community hall. The scope of works was focused on modernising the site and ensuring compliance with current Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements. This included the construction of new ramps and steps, along with general paving works to improve accessibility throughout the village. In addition to these compliance-driven upgrades, the project introduced a new communal outdoor area featuring a BBQ and pergola space, designed to enhance resident amenities and encourage social interaction.
Given the scale of the works and the opportunity to address broader infrastructure issues, the scope also included upgrades to rectify stormwater and sewer system inefficiencies. As part of a broader strategy to futureproof the site and reduce ongoing maintenance needs, the project incorporated the replacement of ageing gas lines and a comprehensive electrical upgrade. This included the removal and replacement of asbestos-containing switchboards, carried out in consultation with SA Power Networks (SAPN) to ensure compliance and minimal service disruption.
